Come, go and walk... on Ærø
Ærø presents a beautiful location
between the gentle South-of-Funen Archipelago and the wild Baltic
Sea, and this position provides the island with quite unique nature
areas. The mixture of small hills, high moraine cliffs and great
views intrigue you into walking and making experiences in nature
beyond any expectation.
Walking Ærø
Ærø is part of the national Walking
Denmark concept. This means that a number of overnight
accommodation places are specially selected to participate. These
are:
Marstal Vandrerhjem (youth
hostel)
Ærøskøbing Camping
Guesthouse Den Grønne Gren in
Bregninge

A Hikers' Paradise - then and now
As early as 1622, Duke Christian
aired his enthusiasm for Ærø, as he considered the island as
"Paradise on Earth". And rightly so. For if Paradise is
characteristic of a place where you feel good, enjoy life and live
it at a slow pace, then there is some truth in it. You will find
this kind of well-being especially on the island's hiking trails
which are well scattered over the whole island.
Ærø keeps itself well on its toes
with regard to hiking and the adaptation to individual needs.
Crisscrossing Ærø, there are short or longer trips available, all
in tune with your dream of nature, your physical condition or your
desire to make experiences that are different from those at your
home grounds. The island has something for everyone, and will have
an impact of idyll on most tourists. In the diversity, which you
will have ample opportunities to experience, many people have found
inspiration, relaxation and peace.
Warning about "love at first sight"
We have often seen that visitors to
Ærø have fallen for the island in a big way. Either their stay is
extended or they come back very soon. Many know before they leave
the island, that this is a place to which they MUST return. And we
couldn't agree more. The motto is: Come, go and walk - as you like
it.
It is our hope that you will
consider a visit to Ærø next time you go hiking.
When you have visited Ærø and made
your impression of the island, its nature and your general view, we
would very much like to hear from you. Have we met your
expectations or can we improve upon anything before your next
visit?
